Current Growing Minds families will begin online registration on Monday, February 10, 2025 at 7:00 am. This early registration allows current families to register current children or younger siblings prior to registration opening to the public.
Established in 2002, Growing Minds Preschool is excited to celebrate 23 years in the Sellersburg community. Kerri Eckert and Robin Long, along with our teachers, strive to teach the whole child as well as to encourage family and community involvement.
The children have many opportunities throughout the preschool day to explore and to create in a warm, nurturing, and non-threatening atmosphere. Children are encouraged to choose activities during learning center time and to actively participate in music, story, and circle time, which are brief teacher-led group activities. Science center, blocks, math and reading manipulatives, books, art, dress-up and cooking are just a few activities available to your child daily. We believe your child needs both structured and unstructured types of play to maximize learning and social- development. We strive to provide a quality play-based, student-centered learning environment in which every student can grow and develop successfully at an individual pace.
This handwriting program is developmentally appropriate and hands-on specifically designed for the preschool child. When learning handwriting, your child will be exposed to a variety of manipulatives and writing tools such as mini chalkboards, roll-a-dough letters, flip crayons, wood pieces, and stamp and see screen.
At Growing Minds Preschool, we want our students to learn what a great feeling "giving" to others can be.

Students go through an obstacle course each day that helps them to develop balance, gross motor skills, and vestibular skills. All of the above help children to use both the right and left sides of their brain.
Parents, grandparents, and friends are all welcome to see the preschool students sing songs, recite poems, and be honored for achievements.
A professional photographer will take individual and class photos in the fall and spring.
Each Spring we invite our families to celebrate reading at our Scholastic Book Fair. All profits go back to Growing Minds Preschool classrooms so that new products and books can be enjoyed by all students.
All family and friends are welcome to join in celebrating the winter season with music and songs.

We encourage you to make a decision for your child based on the needs of your child and the schedule of your family. Each and every class at Growing Minds is designed to prepare your child for kindergarten. We encourage you to visit the classes that you are considering for next year. If you have questions about next year and the classes that are being offered, please feel free to talk to your child's teachers or you may contact Robin Long or Kerri Eckert with questions as well.
Enrollment is based on a first-come basis as space permits. Special needs concerns must be discussed with Mrs. Eckert and Mrs. Long prior to registration. We will not admit any child whose education needs we cannot successfully meet. No child will remain at Growing Minds whose behavior threatens the safety of the other children enrolled in the program.

My family has had the pleasure of sending all four of our children, now ages 6, 10, 12 and 14 to Growing Minds Preschool.
Having been a teacher, I was selective when choosing a preschool for my first born and toured various facilities before choosing GMP. I loved that each teacher at Growing Minds was a certified educator with early childhood teaching experience.
I also liked that the preschool embraced "Handwriting Without Tears" and focused on teaching the many different facets of handwriting including directionality, fine motor skill development, and hands on practice with various tactile materials (shaving cream, play dough, etc.). Many of my children's future teachers have given positive feedback regarding their handwriting.
Growing Minds is very family oriented and volunteers are welcome to sign up in advance to help in the classroom which was very important to our family. We also attended many different holiday parties and helped on field trips to the local library and police station.
The gym at the school is fantastic for indoor recess during the winter and inclement weather; GMP has many different types of toys to play with in the gym such as scooters, bouncy balls, trucks, hula hoops and more. The outdoor playground is also wonderful and is the perfect size for preschoolers. Play is a large part of a preschooler's development which GMP embraces.
All four of my children were more than ready for kindergarten, both socially and academically. They learned to love school during their preschool years which has translated to a love of learning during their elementary and middle school careers as well.
We adored our children's teachers at Growing Minds and are so grateful for the love, time, and effort that was poured into each of our children. We have happily recommended the preschool to many parents over the years; many of whom have had fantastic experiences as well! Thank you, Growing Minds!
I am fortunate enough to have gained a unique perspective into Growing Minds; as a parent and a teacher. I have seen first hand from both of my daughters attending the excellence of this preschool. They incorporate the perfect mixture of all areas needed to be successful in school. This includes daily school routines, academics, fine motor skills, and promoting essential independence. All while having fun! Furthermore, as a Kindergarten teacher in our community, I can confidently say students coming to me from Growing Minds are prepared both academically and socially for school. We are so fortunate to have this great preschool in our community!
