Registration Information

We understand that deciding on a preschool is a very big decision and we want you to have all of the information that you need to make the right decision for your child.

Growing Minds Preschool offers a variety of preschool classes. Classes vary based on age. We offer a one hour before care option for our morning classes beginning at 7:15am.

We have two goals for each child attending Growing Minds Preschool:
  1. We want your child to love to come to school and to be excited about learning.
  2. We want to prepare your child academically and socially for kindergarten.

We are accepting students for the current school year (2020-2021). If you are interested in registering your child for this school year, please call Kerri Eckert 812-989-6292 or Robin Long 502-287-2979.

Online registration for the 2021-2022 school year will be open to the public on Monday, March 1, 2021.

Please like our Facebook/Instagram page for the most up-to-date registration information.

Steps to register:

  • Create a parent account for yourself here and fill out all information.
  • Log in with your parent account and click "My Students". You will then create an account for your child.
  • Based on your child`s age, appropriate classes will be shown to you for registration. If your child`s birthday falls between August 1st and September 1st, you will be able to choose whether you would like them to enroll in the younger class or the older class. (For example, if your child turns 4 on August 15, 2021 you will be shown both three and four year old classes to choose from when enrolling them.)
  • You may choose ENROLL to place them in the class. If the class is currently full, the option will say ADD TO THE WAITING LIST. You can enroll your child in a class AND add them to as many waiting lists as you choose.
  • When your child is enrolled, you will pay a non-refundable registration fee of $100 through the website.
  • You will receive an email registration confirmation from Growing Minds Preschool, as well as an email confirmation of your payment from a third party payment company called Stripe.
  • After you receive this confirmation, a spot is secured for your child for the 2021-2022 school year.

What is next?

The following information will be sent to your email address in late July:
  • School Supply List
  • Back to School Night Information
  • 2021-2022 School Calendar

If your child is on a waiting list and a spot becomes open, we will call to see if you are still interested in the class for your child. Many changes to our classes often happen late in the summer, we will call you if an opening becomes available.

If you have any questions, feel free to call or text us:

Our School

Established in 2002, Growing Minds Preschool is excited to celebrate 19 years in the Sellersburg community. Kerri Eckert and Robin Long, along with our teachers, strive to teach the whole child as well as to encourage family and community involvement.

Our Philosophy

To provide a nurturing child-centered learning environment.
To assist the social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth of the preschool child.
To provide positive group and individual interactions with children and adults.
To foster a love of learning.
To encourage the individual talents of each preschool child.
To encourage sharing and cooperation.
To develop individuality.

Our Daily Program

The children have many opportunities throughout the preschool day to explore and to create in a warm, nurturing, and non-threatening atmosphere. Children are encouraged to choose activities during learning center time and to actively participate in music, story, and circle time, which are brief teacher-led group activities. Science center, blocks, math and reading manipulatives, books, art, dress-up and cooking are just a few activities available to your child daily. We believe your child needs both structured and unstructured types of play to maximize learning and social- development. We strive to provide a quality play-based, student-centered learning environment in which every student can grow and develop successfully at an individual pace.

Our Program includes

Handwriting Without Tears

This handwriting program is developmentally appropriate and hands-on specifically designed for the preschool child. When learning handwriting, your child will be exposed to a variety of manipulatives and writing tools such as mini chalkboards, roll-a-dough letters, flip crayons, wood pieces, and stamp and see screen.

Winter Program

All family and friends are welcome to join in celebrating the winter season with music and songs.

Service Learning Projects

At Growing Minds Preschool, we want our students to learn what a great feeling "giving" to others can be.

Our Classes

We encourage you to make a decision for your child based on the needs of your child and the schedule of your family. Each and every class at Growing Minds is designed to prepare your child for kindergarten. We encourage you to visit the classes that you are considering for next year. If you have questions about next year and the classes that are being offered, please feel free to talk to your child's teachers or you may contact Robin Long or Kerri Eckert with questions as well.

Enrollment is based on a first-come basis as space permits. Special needs concerns must be discussed with Mrs. Eckert and Mrs. Long prior to registration. We will not admit any child whose education needs we cannot successfully meet. No child will remain at Growing Minds whose behavior threatens the safety of the other children enrolled in the program.

2 Year Old Programs

Our 2 year old program is designed to help children adjust to being away from their primary care giver and to have fun in a classroom. Children learn to play with others and explore the classroom during a two hour period each week.

Children must turn two by September 1st. Children do not need to be potty trained for the two year old program. If children are potty trained, or being potty trained, we will gladly help with this process.

Located at Sellersburg United Methodist Church (the church next door to us).

$100 registration fee.

What our parents say

We have 3 children. Our oldest daughter loved Mrs. Long's and Mrs. Latham's classes. She was more than prepared for Kindergarten and has thrived in 1st grade. Our son has enjoyed Mrs. Long's and Mrs. Lindquist's classes. We have seen tremendous growth in his abilities, and he is ready to start Kindergarten next year! We have no second thoughts that our youngest daughter will start at Growing Minds when she turns 3. Our kids love Growing Minds and still talk about the experiences they have had. We feel it has been worth every penny.
The Johnson's
2 children have attended Growing Minds
Growing Minds Preschool is by far, the BEST in Sellersburg. My daughter looked forward to school each and every day. The atmosphere and learning environment is optimal for all young children. The staff at Growing Minds take interest in reaching each and every child's academic growth. My daughter learned her letters/sounds, nursery rhymes, sight words, how to read, how to write her name, social aspects, manners, and much, much more. My husband and I were always at ease knowing that our daughter was cared for, safe, and in a place that facilitated her future success. Thank you Growing Minds for a job well done!!
Shelly Everhart
Kindergarten Teacher and child attended Growing Minds
My two boys and two girls have progressed beautifully as little people in each program from ages three to five years old. As a parent, it makes me happy and secure to know my children have grown up in a safe and nurturing learning environment that encourages the development of the whole child. Growing Minds is more than just a school it is part of my extended family.
Sara Landers Lacy
4 children have attended Growing Minds

My family has had the pleasure of sending all four of our children, now ages 6, 10, 12 and 14 to Growing Minds Preschool.

Having been a teacher, I was selective when choosing a preschool for my first born and toured various facilities before choosing GMP. I loved that each teacher at Growing Minds was a certified educator with early childhood teaching experience.

I also liked that the preschool embraced "Handwriting Without Tears" and focused on teaching the many different facets of handwriting including directionality, fine motor skill development, and hands on practice with various tactile materials (shaving cream, play dough, etc.). Many of my children's future teachers have given positive feedback regarding their handwriting.

Growing Minds is very family oriented and volunteers are welcome to sign up in advance to help in the classroom which was very important to our family. We also attended many different holiday parties and helped on field trips to the local library and police station.

The gym at the school is fantastic for indoor recess during the winter and inclement weather; GMP has many different types of toys to play with in the gym such as scooters, bouncy balls, trucks, hula hoops and more. The outdoor playground is also wonderful and is the perfect size for preschoolers. Play is a large part of a preschooler's development which GMP embraces.

All four of my children were more than ready for kindergarten, both socially and academically. They learned to love school during their preschool years which has translated to a love of learning during their elementary and middle school careers as well.

We adored our children's teachers at Growing Minds and are so grateful for the love, time, and effort that was poured into each of our children. We have happily recommended the preschool to many parents over the years; many of whom have had fantastic experiences as well! Thank you, Growing Minds!

Jenny and Ryan Higbie
Parents to GMP Graduates Nathaniel, Marin, Ella and Will

I am fortunate enough to have gained a unique perspective into Growing Minds; as a parent and a teacher. I have seen first hand from both of my daughters attending the excellence of this preschool. They incorporate the perfect mixture of all areas needed to be successful in school. This includes daily school routines, academics, fine motor skills, and promoting essential independence. All while having fun! Furthermore, as a Kindergarten teacher in our community, I can confidently say students coming to me from Growing Minds are prepared both academically and socially for school. We are so fortunate to have this great preschool in our community!
